Home remedies for Cold and Cough : Fight cold and severe cough the easy way!

Winters are here and here with a bang. But it is not only winter season which is here but along with this, there are some other uninvited guests too. Sore throats, severe coughs, excruciating cold are few of the buddies which are not welcomed at all but still one have to endure them.

The common cold is a non-curable virus. Cold and cough are those seemingly small diseases which irritate the sufferers’ big time. There are certain home remedies for cold and cough which are assured to provide an instant relief. Do try these and take an obstacle free sigh of relief. Literally!

Home remedies for Cold and Cough:-

 

1. Tulsi (Holy Basil)

Boil 5 ‘Tulsi’ leaves in one cup of water.  Cool down the solution and consume the same thrice a day. Chewing Tulsi leaves with Ginger also aids in recovery from severe cold and cough.

 

2.Turmeric Milk

Although this is a very old home remedy for a cough and cold but at the same time, it’s extremely effective. Put a pinch of turmeric powder in a glass of warm milk and consume the liquid in the morning and before going to bed at night. Turmeric milk helps to get rid of bacteria and virus at a rapid rate.

 

3.Grape juice

Now this home remedy might surprise you a bit but grape juice actually benefits one to get relief from a cough and cold. Mix one teaspoon water in half cup of grape juice and gulp it down twice a day. You will see improvement in your cold and cough situation.

 

4.Ginger

Boil one teaspoonful ginger powder in one cup water and drink it warm. It saves the system from infection. Alternatively one could use fresh ginger as well. That works even better to fight a cough and cold.

 

 

 

5.Black Pepper

Add a pinch of black pepper powder in a spoonful of honey and drink the same thrice a day. Also, add a tweak of black pepper to your tea but don’t overdo it. Black pepper will make your throat feel better.

 

6.Fenugreek seeds (Methi dana)

Boil one teaspoon fenugreek seeds in a glass of water and consumes the solution twice a day. This particular remedy is also said to assist in recovery from a cough and cold.

 

7.Jaggery (Gur)

Take a piece of jaggery and crush the same with a piece of ginger. Add warm Tulsi (holy basil) juice into the mixture and eat it warm. Not only this is edible, jaggery and Tulsi are considered excellent agents to overcome a severe cough and cold because of their warm properties.

 

8.Lemon water-Raisins (‘Kishmish’)

Boil a handful of raisins (Kishmish) in one glass of water. Add half teaspoon lemon water and ingest the solution before going to bed at night.

 

9.Raisins – Ginger

Boil 10-15 Raisins and a piece of fresh ginger or 1 teaspoonful of ginger powder in a glass of water and consume the solution twice a day.

 

10.Tulsi (holy basil) and Ginger

Boil 5-7 Tulsi leaves and a small piece of ginger in a two glass/500 milliliters of water. Let the solution boil for 10 minutes or so. When the solution is remained half in quantity If one is suffering from cough as well, add a teaspoonful of turmeric too. Have the solution warm thrice a day.
